Steven Lee Adams
Steven Lee Adams devotes most of his time to plein air painting in the ruggedly beautiful landscape of the western United States. Adams uses a delicate, subtle color palette to produce paintings with a timeless, ethereal quality, works that are simultaneously tangible and romantic.
Mr. Adams studied fine art at Brigham Young University, entering college as the youngest freshman to begin a formal bachelors degree. Following college, he earned the Best of Show award at the 66th annual April Salon, Utah's most prestigious art show. In 1989, Steven became acquainted with wildlife artist Michael Coleman and neo-regionalist painter Gary Ernest Smith, spending time in their studios studying and painting. As a result of these relationships, Adams decided to pursue a professional career in art.
In speaking of his profoundly evocative and poised paintings, Adams states, "My paintings are introspective, urging us to look deeper, not only for the subtleties of nature around us, but also to the complex world of emotion within us."
