Joffa
Kerr
The playful antics of wild and domestic
animals are the inspiration behind sculptor Joffa Kerr's work. Through her distinctive
impressionistic style, the artist reveals the unique, light-hearted personalities
of the animals she sculpts. She is a devoted student of nature, who encounters
many of the subjects for her whimsical sculptures just outside the door of her
Wilson, Wyoming studio.
Ms. Kerr received
her formal education at the University of Oklahoma, where she studied interior
design, jewelery design and painting, but it was after attending Scottsdale Artists
School and working with noted sculptors Sherry Salari Sander, Glenna Goodacre
and Kent Ullberg that she chose to concentrate on three-dimensional work. She
has exhibited at the Albuquerque Museum, the Gilcrease Museum, the Oklahoma City
Museum of Art, and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. In 1997, Southwest
Art magazine named Ms. Kerr one of the top five notable Women Artists of the
Year.
