Rod Zullo

Born in 1965, Rod Zullo enjoyed a passion or the outdoors from an early age. He grew up in Pennsylvania where, under his father's careful tutelage, he was immersed in the lore of the sporting life and gained a deep appreciation for fine sporting art. Later, through the encouragement of his artist grandmother who recognized his talent, Mr. Zullo pursued an art degree at Montana State University. Between semesters, he guided fishermen in some of the world's finest fishing destinations: Montana, the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S., the Bahamas, Mexico, and the West Indies. Following in the footsteps of Ernest Hemmingway and Zane Grey, Mr. Zullo turned to those experiences for inspiration in his art.

The artist creates bronze sculptures in several genres. While his earlier work depicted a variety of marine life, his most recent bronzes include human figures, sporting dogs, domestic animals and horses, all rendered in a classical-realist style. In 2003, he received the Best New Artist award for "A Good Life" at the National Sculpture Society Show in New York.

Mr. Zullo sculpts full-time from his studio in Big Timber, but he is never far away from what inspires him most. He spends the summer and fall months guiding a select clientele of fishermen and hunters on Montana's blue-ribbon trout streams and in the rugged backcountry of the Rocky Mountains.
